There has always been concern among the Century 23 staff as to the environmental impact of the work we do, and although you may not realise it, for the last few years you have been using one of the most environmentally friendly companies in Europe.
We have been using CTP technology which removes silver oxide from the print process, for over 8 years. All paper used for production of your paper print is from a sustainable forest source and a recycled option is available too. We use soya-based inks when printing. Our rubbish is recycled, our electricity supply monitored, the carbon footprint of our transport offset; and to make this official, we undertook to seek ISO 14001 certification in the summer of 2005.
Century 23 should achieve ISO14001 in Summer 2009. ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems and is the most widely implemented and recognised environmental management system in the world. Over 1,400 companies within the UK currently carry the certificate and this number is growing all the time.
The aim of ISO 14001 is to promote and ensure prevention of pollution, continuous improvement of environmental performance and constant compliance with legal obligations.
